Manipueira Gold Recovery Technology Inc., (“MGRT”), a development Company with preliminary schematics prototyping the world’s first sustainable precious metals manipueira leaching center (”Manipueira Center”) which is designed to use a low-cost extract solution from the cyanogenic bitter cassava plant commonly known as manipueira or cassava wastewater, as a lixiviant(leaching agent) to recover gold from ore and toxic tailings wastes.

The Company has a scalable ESG driven climate action initiative designed to replace mercury used in artisanal small-scale mining (“ASM”) ore processing to recover gold and to impact the future use of hard to handle cyanide salts in ASM tailings wastes remediation and in ASM and large-scale mining (“LSM”) leaching operations with manipueira.

The Company targeted Ecuador’s Portovelo-Zaruma mining district to implement its initiative as,  according to Adriana O. Gonçalves et al 2017 research publication, there are 68 chilean processing centers lined along one square mile on the Calera and Amarillo riverbanks. These centers are owned by 67 Aproplasmin members (“Members”), a local mining organization, and whose Members, collectively process ~50,000 artisanal miners ore annually including, ~10,000 local and ~40,000 neighboring miners transported ore from other mining districts using mercury, and to sell their mercury laden gold rich dehydrated tailings wastes.

Strategically, the Company determined that, before approaching an owner of Chilean Center, it would be effective to demonstrate the use of manipueira with the conversion of a less costly and less-time consuming whole ore mercury amalgamation chancha barrel (steel drum) processing center (“Chancha Center”) to using manipueira to recover gold “Manipueira Barrel Center”. More specifically, a Chancha Center that leaches gold from ore using the Merrill-Crowe gold precipitation process and houses no storage ponds for tailings wastes.

Artisanal miners use of mercury in chancha barrel ore processing is well known by the Members, unknown by the impoverished artisanal miners, and scientifically documented to recover only 20 – 30% of the liberated (free) ore gold during processing and with the remaining gold being poured directly into the Calera and Amarillo rivers along with mercury as tailings wastes.

Manipueira is proven to leach 99.6% of the gold from mercury contaminated tailings wastes and 99.3% of the gold from ore concentrates in 2 hours. Manipueira recovers 2 - 3 times more gold from ore and concentrates, and gold faster and less costly from tailings wastes than by using hard to handle cyanide salts.

MGRT is seeking USD $2.0 million impact investment capital in exchange for equity to fund the implementation of our ESG driven climate action initiative in the Portovelo-Zaruma mining district.

The interface between the ASM and LSM mining sectors through the adoption of manipueira contributes to a just energy transition by fostering inclusivity, community empowerment, sustainable resource management, socially responsible practices, and global relevance in the evolving landscape of mineral processing to sustainably recover more gold and make more money.
